I'm overjoyed to have won my first hackathon. I'm particularly proud that my belief of technology improving people's lives has found application in our idea.
A huge 'thank you' to my team - it was a blast!
Over the 48-hour hackathon, we built a prototype of a product that is capable of non-identifiably monitoring vulnerable people within their households. The prototype ran on 2 laptops to simulate what the behaviour of the device would be when it is manufactured and showed what it would be capable of. The device when manufactured would be wall mounted and would require effectively no setup by the user, increasing the accessibility of the product.
Our primary use case was elderly people falling over within their homes. This would be identified via a microphone to hear the fall, an accelerometer to measure vibrations and a Grid-Eye sensor for heat mapping. In the case that at least 2 of the 3 sensors triggered abnormal readings, a message would be sent to the person and displayed on the device, should they not respond, a set of specified contacts would be notified and assistance from emergency services be sent upon request, all via the device. The device can do more in further iterations but that was the primary case.

The main reason for the blog, besides my interest in improving my web design skills, is that I felt very privileged to work for adidas in Amsterdam. This resulted in a certain need for sharing my experiences. Therefore, the blog gives an insight into my daily work and documents what I have learned and how I have developed. I hope you'll enjoy the impressions I'm trying to convey and that you can take something beneficial from reading it. Please click here to check it out and discover more background information and the actual Blog.
Thanks to the monthly updating of the blog I had found pleasure in writing. So now I can proudly report that I have published an article in adidas' GamePlan A. It's about my key learnings during the internship and what advice I would give to future interns. Click on the picture to get to the article. Have fun reading!

By answering this question, my team and I won the Future of Education Hackathon from StudySmarter and the University of Bayreuth. Our mock-up convinced the jury with its proposition to introduce tech-shy students to the topic of digitization.
With the interactive design of public displays in combination with Kinect, we want to help them overcome their first barriers in a playful way. This can spark more interest and stimulate continuous interaction with the subject of IT. Thanks to my compadres Eduardo Augusto Esqueche Larrabure and Franz-Jakob Morfeld - It was a pleasure to hack with you guys!

Ever since I'm fascinated by the idea to transfer the consultation consumers get in brick and mortar stores to the digital world. During my internship I was able to pursue this independently and both build a prototype and design a business case around it. It deals with the problem of the product jungle (too many models are offered) and that adidas does not help to find the best product individually. My solution is adiFit, an extension for the adidas app that guides the user through an interactive questionnaire and recommends the optimal running shoe based on the answers given. The questions can be categorized according to the running behaviour, body characteristics and shoe preferences of the respective consumer. Unfortunately, I cannot share the business case or the prototype here, because the project has met with great internal interest and would also reveal internal company information. As sneak peak you can have a look at the artboard below.
Besides, I was happy that the director of mobile experience (adidas) gave me half an hour to pitch my idea. He was impressed and agreed that there is a need for such an initiative in the future. Furthermore I was able to present the prototype at the browse and design meeting of the UX department and also got very good feedback and encouragement.

In Amsterdam, I came together with other digital and IT savvy people to create a way that offers consumers personalized experiences and thus deepen their experience with the brand. We had only 24 hours to come up with a digital solution for that.
Our team has worked on an integration that personalizes the next gen shopping experience. For the most part, we have been aiming to find the most appealing adidas products based on a VR experience. In order to do that we tracked the eyes throughout the experience and identified which products are the most viewed ones.

HackDays or “Hackathon” is an event where experts from different disciplines work together in teams on technical, business or design problems with the goal of developing innovative and creative software to build prototypes and generate new ideas.
Participant in the adidas challenge (Team ChannelZ):
Mobile interaction and commerce - Redefine how adidas engages with fans around the world
In order to tackle our main goal, remain or get into the relevant set, our approach was to focus on three main aspects: MOBILE, COMMUNITY & PRODUCT.
The combination of these three criteria gave rise to the idea of digitizing and gamifying the so-called "Kick um den Platz". Using an app, users can scan their adidas shoes, choose a team and then log into a court. Based on various measured values, an accumulated score is calculated accordingly. The team with the highest score virtually owns the court.

I decided to recycle water bottles and plastic bags in order to create a shoetree. The basis consists of remodelled water bottles which are tied together by braided parts of plastic bags. To give the shoetree a nicer finish I covered it with an old performance bag.
In my opinion this is a great way to show people why they shouldn’t throw away their plastic waste as there are awesome things you can do with it. Especially the oceans are full of waste and substances which cause great damage to the maritime world.
Herewith I want to support Parley’s Ocean Plastic Program and I will ban plastic bags from life - Spread the word and be creative!

The European Association for Sport Management (EASM) was established in 1993 as an independent association of people involved or interested in the management of sport in the broadest sense. EASM membership is composed of academics and professionals from the public, voluntary and commercial sectors.
Through a scholarship I was able to attend the EASM Summer School in Madrid. Besides enriching presentations on current sport management topics, I can proudly say that my team and I have won the Case Study Competition. Our strategy to improve the ticketing and merchandising of Atlético de Madrid convinced the jury to choose us of a total of 12 strong teams.
